Tips for protecting yourself from hackers

The top tips are:

  • Do use strong passwords.
  • Don’t use the same password for everything.
  • Do make multiple back-ups of precious files.
  • Don’t use the same email address for everything.
  • Don’t use the one social service to log into everything.
  • Don’t choose easy-to-answer security questions.
  • Do enable two-factor authentication.

Mozilla Firefox upgrade taken offline

Firefox version 16, recently released by Mozilla, has been taken offline due to security concerns.

“Mozilla is aware of a security vulnerability in the current release version of Firefox (version 16)” said Michael Coates, Mozilla director of security.

Mozilla are recommending users downgrade until the issues have been resolved. The issue allows “a malicious site to potentially determine which websites users have visited.”

“More than 50%” ready for cloud archiving – CommVault

Simon Probert, country manager for CommVault has revealed that more than 50% of its customers are ready for cloud archiving.

“Typically, you want maybe a week’s worth on local equipment for a very fast restore. Anything older and the cloud is grabbing hold as a better option for long term retention and archiving, he says.

Warehouse looks to internet for sales boost

The Warehouse has revealed it has seen a rise in online sales over the first half of its financial year.

The company has announced internet revenue was up by 60 per cent compared to the 6 months prior to January 29 2012.

Trade Me adds touch site

March 6th, 2012

Trade Me has released a touch screen version of its website.

Users are able to “search, bid and buy, ask and answer questions, and view their account details and ‘My Trade Me’ pages.”

In future, Trade Me plans to add “functions for browsing, placing feedback, editing notes and selecting favourites.”
