iPhone 5 on the way?

Reports out indicate Apple are expected to double their production of the iPhone in the second half of 2011, with an estimated 58 million units expected to ship world wide.

Experts also predict Apple is preparing to announce the eagerly anticipated iPhone 5. While details of the device are purely rumour at this point, cNET has compiled a list of its top 20 most wanted features.

Skype to purchase GroupMe

Online communications service, Skype, announced on Monday that it plans to purchase group text messaging provider, GroupMe.

Skype, which was recently acquired by Microsoft did not say how much it plans to pay for GroupMe.

NZ ‘well positioned’ to be data centre of the Pacific

New Zealand could be an ideal location as a data-storage hub for the Pacific, according to Pacific Fibre chief executive Mark Rushworth.

International data centers, or locations filled with servers housing data are increasing in demand as the size of information on the internet increases.

“New Zealand (is) politically safe and neutral and would be a fantastic location for data centres between Asia and the United States.”
